3 XBLA Games The Kids Will Love

Trying to find a kid friendly game that will keep them hooked from the start? It can be tough nowadays to find something appropriate that isn’t rated T-M, too difficult, or that’s more suitable for children. To give you a helping hand on your quests for FUN E-rated games, here’s a few from Xbox Live Arcade that won’t let you down. (Prices shown are listed in USD)

boxartlgJoy Ride Turbo

 Price: $9.99

Vrooooooooooooooooom! What kid doesn’t love to drive around in fast cars? Joyride Turbo is an automatic win whichever way you look at it. It’s easy to pick up, play, and the adrenaline pumping gameplay is sure to keep them distracted while you do important adult things. (See, I got you covered!) Oh, and it’s only $10 to boot.

boxartlg (1)Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

 Price: $19.99

Let’s not forget Minecraft, one of our best selling XBLA titles, is also a huge hit with the young ones! In Minecraft, kids can be kings of a city built by their very own hands.  They can let their wild imaginations run free in a world that allows them to build, create, demolish – oh, and did I mention fly?  This crosses off every box on your check list and since the game has such an immense community, your young one will be able to craft whole cities with online friends!

boxartlg (2)Fable Heroes

 Price: $9.99

Last but not least, what kid doesn’t want to be a hero in their own fairy tale? Fable Heroes will feed any child’s adventurous side without all the icky blood and guts. You can also dive into mini-games, tag along with a friend in co-op mode, or do what I do and just replay the “RUN AWAY FROM THE EXPLODING CHICKENS!” mini-game (definitely a favorite).

State of Decay Becomes The Fastest Selling Original Game On XBLA!

500000banner

If you didn’t already see the news, we’re having an exciting day! (The banner might have given it away.)

Yes, you guys took us over the half million mark. Actually, that milestone is SO last Friday, Jeff says. Now we’re over the 550,000 mark. We still don’t know what to say besides thank you for your encouragement and support. We didn’t know what to expect, so your continuing enthusiasm is humbling.

And yes, Jeff DID just drop the sandbox mode bomb. We’re working on a pure sandbox mode for State of Decay, in large part because you asked for it. Again, the date is TBD, but we wanted you all to know it was coming.

Can’t stop us now! Thanks again for riding along with us.

If You Could Cosplay As Any XBLA Character…

Who would it be and why? It may seem like a simple question, but how do you choose just ONE awesome XBLA character? If there were no factors involved like money, time, or resources I would cosplay as these fine characters:

caos

Ascend: Hand of Kul - Caos

This one is a no brainer. Who wouldn’t want to be snagging attention in this glistening piece of steel? All while looking like a total beast. Plus, there’s so many options for how you could make the cosplay come to life with weapons, tarnish on the armor, maybe even some left over blood from the last battle?… Count me in!

boxartlgBattleBlock Theater - Hatty Hattington

Say “Hi” to Hatty! Tell me, who could resist Hatty’s charming, yet evil vibe? I can’t! That’s why I would pick him as one of my dream cosplays. Needless to say, Hatty’s stylish and adorable getup would melt the hearts of millions (…unless he melted them first since he’s EVILLL).Luckily his outfit seems rather simple and not too extensive, which would provide plenty of time to add the perfect polished touches on his dapper apparel.

44Skulls of the Shogun – General Akamoto

Last but not least, General Akamoto from Skulls of the Shogun. Why? I mean just check out his outfit! Sleek, shiney, and ready to withstand anything thrown its way. Now this however, would be quite the task, but like I said – with unlimited resources then why not? P.S. – The floating skulls would totally be included.

What about YOU? If you didn’t have to worry about anything like money or time – who would you cosplay as and why?

Ascend: Hand of Kul – We The Humans…

Frail and weak, the Humans cower to the ways of the Ascend world. Although outnumbered by sheer force, their eagerness to fight keeps them going. As a Caos Warrior, their passion and determination can deem useful on the battlefield.

You Asked: So what role do Humans play in Ascend: Hand of Kul?

When a village is converted to your alignment, Humans will begin to serve at your side. When called upon, Humans will climb on your shoulders and aid you in battle And they can even restore your health – by being eaten. They abide to the will of the any Caos Warrior who proves himself worthy of service.

10.195.225.116-image9

P.S. – Humans are full of calcium so they make for excellent snacks – and footballs! Go ahead, toss them around, just for fun. You know you want to!
