Looks cool. I’m definitely more interested in this than the Kinect game.

They did as good of a job as they could with that one but Kinect just isn’t very good for racing games.

While I doubt it will, I’ll be really interested to see if this goes back to the free to play model that the original game was announced as having, back before it became a Kinect title.

I’m going to guess that this is no longer using the free-to-play model from when it was initially announced 3 or so years ago since there was no mention of it. I’ll check it out. XBLA could still use a good kart racer.

Yeah I’m assuming this too. Would be amazing if it is free-to-play though.

I’ve been looking forward to this ever since it was shown as a free XBLA title way-back-when before Kinect was in the picture. If it really isn’t free anymore, that’ll really bum me out, but I’m still going to pick this up. Albeit, with less people online as a paid title…

Free or not: Will the game still have a community-driven unlockable system? That was the other big aspect of the game that really had me interested in the game.

Is this going to be free as promised when it was first announced years ago?

I’m glad to see MS is finally righting the wrong that was Kinect Joy Ride. Now just bring back 1 vs. 100 and we’ll talk forgiveness :-)

I wuz ninja’d. It’s cool, I’m glad others remember it too. If they get enough people saying it maybe it might happen… ;-)

I’m not a big fan of the visual style, but judging by the screenshots the gameplay looks kinda fun. Depending on the price I might get this down the line.

Not seeing any mention of free there, if MS is gonna turn back time to right a wrong they could at least go all the way.

    Still, could be good.

I also have a long memory… ;-) Yeah, free would be nice… and bring back 1 vs. 100 while they’re at it!

      • http://twitter.com/NBAKirkland NBA Kirkland (Nick)

lol, lots of people still miss 1 vs. 100/Primtetime.

Hey, Xbox Live peeps, as long as you’re doing this, could y’all do us long-time gamers a solid and bring back the Primetime Channel?

    Kthx. ;-)

It’s not free. 800 MSP according to the PlayXBLA Twitter account.

    Wow, that’s a nail in the Kinect’s coffin…

“Kinect screwed up this game, so let’s rerelease it without Kinect-support. Yeah!”

  • XBLA_Alex

Joy Ride Turbo will not be free, but at 800 points it’s still a really good deal. When you guys see all the cool gameplay trailers and screenshots I think you’ll agree :)

First off, the game looks amazing. This is the game that I wanted when the failed cash in Kinect Joy Ride was released. And I don’t mind paying for it.

My main concern is “Depth”. I played Kinect Joy Ride and there was basically no customization outside of the color of your car. In order for a game like this to really succeed and have legs we need to customize our vehicles with new parts and create tracks and stuff like that. This has the potential to rival Little Big Planet Karting on PS3 but without customization it will fade away as a boring, cheap man’s Mario Kart! neo

it was never going to be ‘free’ and at 800msp will probably work out a lot cheaper than the original model.

The game will be issued as a free download playable online for all Xbox Live Gold members. Following the popular model of Korean MMOs, even though the base game is free, players will be able to pay to download new tracks, game modes and avatar items, according to Microsoft’s press release.

The microtransaction model that Joy Ride sports might raise a few eyebrows. Though the game is free, you’ll have to pay to get some of the more desirable content. That includes cars, Avatar clothing and game modes. Some of these will be free while others will come at a price.

This was meant to be out instead of the failed kinect garbage they released. It was also meant to be free. I am boycotting this purchase because, to be honest, it is not worth 800ms.

  • Guslarsen

I have gotten all the Requirements for Achievment full garage (purchase all cars) but the acheivment did not and will not pop up now there is nothing to do. How can I fix this problem?
