Minecraft: 360 Edition Gets Even Better…. Tomorrow!!!

The blog posted last week detailing some upcoming tweaks to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition now has a launch date!! That date is this tomorrow ( June 15th )! All you’ll have to do is log in and and a notice will pop up to let you know you need to download something to continue playing! THAT SIMPLE. Changes going live tomorrow!

Features:-

* Added an autosave, and the ability to turn autosave off, or set it from 15 minutes up to 2 hours in 15 minute steps.

* Split the sensitivity controls into an in-game sensitivity and an in-menu sensitivity.

* Added an Interface Opacity slider in the settings for plasma screen users.

* Added a gamertag display in splitscreen, and the ability to enable/disable it in the settings.

* Added an option in the settings menu to enable/disable in-game hints.

* Added an option in the settings menu to enable/disable tooltips.

* Added a co-ordinate display to the in-game map.

* Added new sections in the How To Play on Multiplayer, Sharing Screenshots, and What’s New.

* Added a warning message when attempting to place lava near the spawn area.

Fixes:-

* Fix for the leaderboard crash when toggling between filters/leaderboards.

* Fix for server disconnect message appearing when offline or in leaderboards.

* Fix for issue where posting a screenshot to Facebook caused a back out to the main menu.

* Fix for clay generation.

* Fix for ‘Awaiting Approval’ showing all the time on some signs.

* Various crafting menu fixes.

* Fix for being able to stand on sugarcane.

* Fix for intermittent crash on saving.

* Fix for duplication bug with the furnace and dispenser.

* Fix for not being able to place water near the spawn area.

* Fix for intermittent problem on entering the Nether putting the player above the Nether world.

* Fix for frame-rate drop around the edge of the world.

* Fix for intermittent problem where some achievements were not being awarded.

* Fix for graphical issue with stairs.

* Fix for issue with enemies spawning inside a house when they shouldn’t.

* Fix for Zombie Pigmen not being counted for leaderboard scores.

    I grew tired of waiting and bought Minecraft PC a few days ago. Well worth it! The Xbox version is gimped, to say the least. It is so far behind. The PC version is at Minecraft 1.2.5, while the Xbox version is just about to hit Beta 1.7.3. Eesh. If and when they meet or surpass the PC version, I will boot it up on my console again. Until then, I am hunting Endermen and exploring strongholds on my PC. PC version 1.3 will be released before the Xbox version even reaches the Adventure update. I am not complaining, just explaining my reason for jumping ship and heading to the PC for my Minecraft fix.

    BIG question, when is the update dropping, is it first thing in the morning? Mid-day, this is very important information that needs answering.

      Typically LIVE Marketplace updates happen just after 2am Seattle time. For Title Updates like this, it can take four to five hours to prop everywhere. It’s not quite like a game launch where it’s available everywhere at the same time.

        So it should be up around 8am MST then? Well I’ll be able to get a couple hours in before I have to go to work, that makes this a little better :)

          We can’t *really* guarantee that it will be anywhere at any specific time, but worst case, it should be waiting for you when you get home! Usually it’s everywhere by 6 or 7am Pacific time, though.

    It would be great if they made it possible to join a random persons game without them having to be your friend. Like a “Quick Match” option. Unless this is already possible and I just don’t know how to do it.

    Really bummed that world fixes and changes like clay won’t appear in currently generated maps. No algorithm to convert some blocks we’ve never seen or touched into clay?

        It is in No way an alpha, the mode its running on Now is Beta 1.6, the same version we had on PC last September, which means we are a good 10 months behind, it cant be that hard to just Port the features over from PC to Xbox, other games do it all the time, so yeah, im REALLY regretting buying this version

        every now and again, when you place a torch, it only gives light to around 2-3 blocks around it, and leaving random blocks dark. i’ve noticed it more while trying to dig down a spiral staircase and it not lighting up more than 5 stairs, more like just 2

      it seems that the issue with the torches only occurs playing online with a poor (laggy) connection… i find that when playing in an online game with a fast connection the issue never arises, same with playing offline (both split screen and by myself).

    Dude…not impressed at all. I guess I can understand how its different with coding and everything but really? This is a poor excuse for an update, its more like a patch. Fixing errors and adding features to the menu doesn’t qualify for saying its getting better. It no funner than it was. Good on you all for fixing some of the bugs you fixed, but there are far more concerns like how Minecraft is reduced to what it was, getting Diamond and building. I actually like the survival aspect, miss my skins and while I’m ready to wait for that, it can’t be that hard to focus on game improvement while fixing these minor bugs. I guess I should apologize for being so negative bit honestly, please try to get the features to be on par with PC. Otherwise I’ll regret not just saving for a better PC.

        Why shouldn’t it be able to have infinite map generation? Minecraft on the PC by default doesn’t use much ram, so that’s not the issue. You can already have several people in different parts of the map playing splitscreen, so it’s not an issue with too many chunks being loaded at once. Clearly the xbox can handle the graphics of Minecraft, though I’m not sure if they’re optimizing it so it doesn’t rely solely on the processor like the PC version does. It’s probably just a feature they haven’t gotten around to coding in yet. (Or maybe they’re worried it will fill up your hard drive if you walk in a straight line for days).

      Jeb is not working on the Xbox version of minecraft. 4J Studios ported it so they’re the ones doing everything to make it on par with the PC version.

      okay…. Problem with that is that there are already 4.5 Billion more class files than there are on current Minecraft PC Version 1.2.5. for them to Make it like PC version so quikly is almost impossible.. You have to Javascript each and Individual Class file.. Then upload it to Render right into the Microsfot software 3.05.3 then it must be converted to actually play the game.. so please next time you make a Sly comment like that one… please do your research.

      Snapshots on the newest version of minecraft for PC are released almost weekly. Follow Jeb on Twitter for a link to them when they come out.

      They do more updates over a week for PC than they do in the entire time the Xbox version has been out. Keep up with the news and calm down.

      You do realize that Mojang isn’t directly making Minecraft 360, right? It’s 4J studios. They take Mojang’s work and translate the code/controls to work for the 360. AND, as others said, you’ve got to realize the Mojang team is about 9 people right now, and most of them are recent additions.

      You gotta think though it about staff and tools to work with, they just moved to a “decent” sized office and are slowly working on stuff (and not to mention notch is working on his new space game and scrolls is in the works and theres the OTHER game they have), plus its not mojang working directly on the minecraft360 edition its 4jstudios which is a microsoft branch so them trying to convert code and make everything compadable with all the 360 gear. it takes time and people.

    People, don’t expect any HUGE updates for a while. Mojang had to rebuild Minecraft from the ground up because it’s being coded in a different way. PC version uses Java, Arcade version is much more likely to be using XNA. Which means everything Mojang’s already done with the PC version needs to be translated. Like if you were watching a foriegn movie. It would need to be translated before you could understand it.

    Jesus Christ, some of you guys are picky and ungrateful.

    The game JUST came out and a lot of you are whining about how disappointed you are in the update. FYI, they can’t completely update the Xbox version on the same level as the PC version in ONE update. This kind of thing takes time. It’s going to be a while, even a year perhaps, before the Xbox version is even remotely close to the PC version.

    Minecraft on the PC costs just a *little* more than the Xbox version ($26.95 for the PC, 1600MSP/$19.99 for Xbox). If you’re that upset, just play the PC version.

    If you can’t get the PC version, then just deal with it. It’s better than not having the game at all. It’s still a good game regardless of how small the update is.

            wait i just had an awesome idea, if they finish this they could compile it for PC and have a faster version of minecraft because it uses c++ not java, but it would have only support for windows, unless they can compile it for Linux or Macintosh. also they would have to change all of the button mappings to keys or you could plug in your Xbox controller to control the game just like the Xbox, and the key-mappings would take a lot of work to do and i hope notch might see this to consider the option to try and do this so please reply notch.

        They’re completely different pieces of software, nothing would be cross compatible. Minecraft had to be recoded from scratch for the 360, it’s not running off java like the PC version.

            I think there is still a little confusion here. When it comes to updates, what is free for the consumer is not traditionally free for the developer. As I understand it developers on the XBOX have to pay for Microsoft to offer their new game updates. A deal was struck here that allows 4J to do smaller/incremental updates without incurring additional developer update fees from MS, and it sounds like no one else has that kind of deal. DLC doesn’t really come into play when talking about updates to the core game. And when I say core game i do mean a game that 4J, Mojang, and all of us in the MC community hope to be as close to the PC version as possible.

            Do you know anything about writing and testing code? They can’t just “port” a work in progress over to a whole new platform. They have to change how much memory use, what the console can and can’t handle…. Not as easy as you try to uneducatedly explain.

        They only began coding in 1.6; the team was as on schedule as they could ever be, and that meant they had to stay with 1.6, an antiquated update to any PC fan. But I do understand, and implore others to, and that the 360 is a whole new platform; the console. Mojang is a PC developer, and are new to the console. I say give them your patience, and they’re moving at a great pace so far.

      Agree completely – also 4J have already said they are facing issues with updating as with the adventure update the whole architecture of the code was changed BUT they are persevering and working on it. Anyone who played the PC version in beta will remember the bug fixes between updates or updates which didn’t appear to do much.
      Also for those moaning about creative mode – the game is called Minecraft not Create-a-lot the idea is that you mine materials and then use them to craft items and build. For me personally I don’t see the challenge in having infinite supplies – there is much more reward looking at a structure and thinking not only did I build that but I made the tools and gathered the resources to do it!
      Yes I agree that it would be nice to have some of the PC features like abandoned mineshafts and strongholds, but that’s what I have a laptop for! I just turn off my 360 (I know complete sacrilege, turning off a ported game to play the original!!)
      There isn’t much in this update that will affect how I play and I can’t wait for it to come in line with the PC version (especially as PC 1.3 looks awesome!) but until such a time I’ll just have to cope with playing it on two platforms.
      Oh and spare a thought for our PS3 playing friends who will never have the pleasure of a console edition of Minecraft…

            And my above point is, you can’t code around a lack of RAM or processing power. Sure there’s sloppy code and memory leaks, but I don’t see minecraft having these problems.

            The code is probably as efficient as it can be, for being Java. But it’s massive. I went 6500 blocks away from the spawn point at the same time my friend was going just as far in the opposite direction on the map, we crashed my homemade server because it was trying to generate new terrain too fast.

            Furthermore, the PS3 does have superior hardware to the 360.

A 1440 px monitor can be had for cheap right now, so please, find me a large format display to support that. Oh, wait, nevermind, because a current-gen console won’t support that resolution.

            I agree that minecraft will be better on the PC forever but I think that we can all agree that PS3 is far better than any PC and is made specifically for gaming not just email and web browsing. PS3 is a far better device than both Xbox and PC for multiple reasons. PC doesn’t have the same controller, its not made for only gaming, and it has a bigger screen and better speakers. Xbox you have to pay for Xbox live (which sucks anyway) and it is an older device with crappy controllers and people that cuss all the time that are constantly playing it.

      But an addition to your Minecraft on PC reference: The game, beta version (which is what I bought it at) was 14.95 Euros (roughly $20-$21). But like Que said, don’t complain about a game that barely came out with minor updates. Be happy with what you have. If you don’t like it, go back to the computer version (or in some cases, go BUY the computer version).

        Wrong… i waited a year for minecraft to get to its current stage on pc and so will you for 360… and i severely doubt strongholds and abandoned mine shafts will be in the 360 version as the world gen will have to change, and i doubt the 360 will handle it.

        Because the Xbox 360 doesn’t use Java. The whole game has to be recoded. They have all the concepts but the coding is what takes the most amount of time to do.

      the xbox version will never be as good as the pc version because the xbox has somewhere around 500 mb of ram and most pcs have around 4gb of ram. minecraft on pc uses 3gb of 4gb. To run a server at the same time as play u need a least 6gb of ram so the xbox version is sitimattically at a disavatage

        @qui Minecraft uses around 500MB on the PC. The Java virtual mahcine it runs under only allocates about 1GB of memory.

          Not really, on Multiplayer the server has to load chunks from diffrent parts for all the diffrent player, of then a single server will be dealing wiht several “worlds” at eh same time. The reason PC gets away with so little ram usage by comparison to how much larger it is is the faster ram allowing it to instantly load new close by chunks. Other factor contribute as well such as the xbox’s abysmal CPU and GPU which are terrible by today’s PC standards, a high end PC GPU is around 10 times more powerful than the Xbox GPU.

    Why not just be happy they are working on it. Be happy you have seamless multiplayer. Be happy you have what you have. Most of us have the pc version. We all knew going in, this wouldnt be up to par right away. I for one am grateful. They have done a lot, and i am happy to be able to play w/daughters w/o having multiple pc/laptops.

    I’ve been a long time player of Minecraft, around to play the PC version whilst it was still in alpha; personally, I am astounded to see that it went to other platforms with the 360 version and the Pocket Edition. I do understand the problems with updating the game, however; Even the PC version took 6 months for each meat coated update to come out, and months after for bug fixes to be done. I’m delighted to see that the 360 will be following the originals footsteps, and as I can’t always enjoy playing the PC version due to my incapable PC, I plan on moving into a new home on the 360. Personally, again, I think that this is a move in the right direction; but updates take time. The game was made for the 360 back in about 1.6 I think, so it’s stuck with 1.6 abilities. We need only wait a year for it to be on par with it’s counterpart however, and the 360 team is moving fervently to finish everything.

    Albeit that I’ve written this paragraph of rambling nonsense, I guess I’m just trying to say good job, and you’ve made another 20 bucks off of me, Mojang.

    Minecraft has been developed for over 3 years now on the PC.
    On a PC, there is this thing called JAVA.
    On the Xbox, not only are they developing it for a new platform, but there is NO java, meaning the game is literally written from scratch.
    Meaning, lots of developers are trying very hard to make a fun, enjoyable game, if you want the full deal, buy the computer version and play it on the computer you’re currently using to whine with.
    and yes, Xbox’s don’t have the physical capabilities to play games to the same level as PC’s and you CAN buy an Xbox style controller for a computer, plug it into your tv and play multiplayer with your friends.

    Xbox will never get the same features as PC it’s simply not up to snuff it don’t do thoes things, especally infinite maps, the biggest problem is the very small ram on xbox (512mb) is also very slow at 800mhz.
    PC’s normally have over 4gb of memory @1333mhz some desktops have more, I have 16gb @1600mhz

    For default PC usage you need at least 1gb and on multiplayer the servers are generally loaded with way way way more, Xbox will not have PC minecraft, ever. You should appreciate the fact that this game is on your system to begin with. Porting it was probably not cheap or easy for the people at Mojang to do and it saves you money on a PC, unless you already have one in which case you can just hook you PC up to you TV and play PC minecraft on your TV with the MSoft controller.

    I for one would like to say thank you. while this update may not be much on our end, I imagine it took alot of effort and hard work to pull off. Minecraft is such a fun game. Maybe mojang can add a random multiplayer function so I can find others that play the game.

    face it everyone wants the best of everything for free no matter what. but when it gets down to the bare bones of the issue the 360 Minecraft was meant to expand to a new market. Which i might add it successfully did becoming the most bought Xbox live arcade game in current history. also with this version being so new and having different coding then the pc version there is going to be snags. So i agree with the other logical people on this comment string. If you don’t like it and are going to do nothing but complain about it stop playing; or if your not going to stop playing then shut up and swallow your pride.
    in the long run your argueing over code on a console and comparing it to purpose built gaming computers designed to run at higher and hotter rates then the xbox. kind of pitiful you expected a pure flawless version that will get you up in the morning pat you on the bum and say have a good day if you ask me.

    They released the game on schedule so that everyone could play. Was/is it buggy yes, so was/is the pc version. Fixing bugs is far more important than introducing new ones, ask any developer. Also 4J and Notch made special deals with Microsoft to put out updates to XB360 Minecraft in a faster more cost effective way than any other companies have been allowed my MS. I could track down and site the link if you must read it. But quite frankly I wasn’t expecting an update for at least another month so I’m impressed all around. Kudos to Mojang, 4J, MS, Notch, and the Minecraft community for making the game better in every way.

    I think this is a great update and will bring more fun even if it’s just patches.
    Although we all are egar for sprinting, enchanting, it will take time… Since the Xbox has less ‘controls’ on it then the PC it will take some descion making on putting sprinting.

    I can’t understand why old minecraft fans are so mad the update isn’t out. You’ve play it from the start and loved it. Loved what to expect. Why not give yourself that experience again and wait.

    I say that since they got rid of the Dispencer Glitch they should at least put in creative mode soon. Why? Because the duplication glitch was almost like our creative and we could have infinate amount of stuff when we only had to mine 1.

    Who else is really sick of hearing people complain about the update? First of all, Minecraft for the PC is in JAVA. Xbox can’t read JAVA so the ENTIRE game has to be recoded from JAVA to something the xbox can use( I believe C++.) If Xbox read Java, then yea, the entire game would be out. So guys, get ready cause the 1.8 update probally wount be out till august or early september, if that.

    I’m glad to see they they will be updating the game. I personally hope they don’t add a creative mode. Destroying a house with TNT was 100x better when they made me work for it. Now-a-days with creative I destroy villages and don’t feel a thing.

    Though I was a bit disappointed that the game was set very far back, I still like the idea of making Minecraft go back to its roots, and MAKING you play the survival. It makes the game more engaging and rewarding. I do wish they could update faster, but Im guessing the mountain of code they are translating is a big challenge and they are working their tails off as is.

    Yes, Yes, and Yes. Awesome work guys. TOTALLY love it. My 16 y/o son has been playing Minecraft on PC since the beginning. I FINALLY came around and now am TOTALLY addicted. I just read the “Fixes” and started saying “Yes”, to almost all the fixes because I personally have experienced them. Thank you for all the hard work. Coding is NOT easy and VERY time consuming.     Yeah, all these changes/ fixes are great, but still, every time I enter my map (which I have played hundreds of hours in) I spawn in as a new player. So if the game crashes I loose EVERYTHING that I was wearing/ holding. And my maps always start over. Its a real pain and more essential to game play than half of the stuff that was fixed. So yeah, call it ungrateful and picky if you want.

    Stupid people are stupid. Minecraft 360 has a totally different coding from the PC. That’s really the main reason it’s back at 1.6. 4J at one point said they’d try to let out monthly updates for the 360. The PC, while closing in on 1.3, hasn’t been seeing much action in updates. 360 will most likely catch up before the end of this year, if not then early next.
    I don’t see the big problem with you people. Yeah the PC is better, now, but gtfo to the morons who say the 360 will NEVER be like it. We’ll have all the same features soon. If you look hard enough, you’ll find more info on map size. Some leaked info on a possible 360 map size increase of 10x. Though not infinite, still much better than 1kx1k. Ps3′s ONLY advantage would be the HD of it. But the security on a free, already broken network isnt worth the trouble to 4J, which is why their much stronger ties to Microsoft were better for business. You have to pay $50 a year for live, then the $20 for Minecraft. Microsoft has it good. Plus with that cheap $50 a year, not only is the 360′s security much better, but again, it’s cheap. You’d have to be that poor kid who couldn’t afford a second shoe to bitch about $50 a YEAR.
    Fact of the matter is, stop being a bunch of fanboy/girl jackasses. Pc is better, now. 360 is catching up. Ps3…you’re there, enjoy your blu-ray. STFU.

    Just to clarify on the console vs PC debate:
    Consoles are normally more powerful than a top-line gaming PC when they are released (for example, the new Xbox is going to have a processor specially developed by IBM for it), however, they are normally not updated for a number of years, whereas gaming pc hardware power doubles every 18 months (according to Moore’s law). Consoles can also run games with much worse specs than a PC can because they are nor running an OS in the background (for example, the 360 has 512mb of RAM but can run Battlefield. You would never dream of this on a PC). PCs can also run games with better graphics than consoles because they are always having hardware updates, so are normally miles ahead of gaming consoles (again, compare Battlefield on the PC on the highest setting to Xbox or PS3).

It just has the old version of minecraft.Even back when the pc was 1.6.6 it kind of was like the xbox360 minecraft. As for the PS3 i dont care what console it is as long that i enjoy it and have fun and i dont have a PS3 sadly just a xbox360 which is also very good in my opinion.So for both you little fanboys and PS3 haters stop talking shit about each other. They’re just consoles!Just have fun and enjoy the life you have right now.

    They shouldn’t have fixed the duplication glitch! I only used it as a creative mode option, they NEED to add that to the game, I was talking to some friends and the only thing that putted them off buying the game was that there was no creative mode option!(Missing out on sales with that one!)

      There’s an ‘easy’ way around the duplication glitch, just delete the update. Yeah, you’ll be offline, but you can duplicate what you want, save your game, and (if everything is done properly) update your game, keep your duplicates, and play online again. Problem solved.
      As for Creative Mode, just going to have to wait until issues in normal mode are taken care of first, at least that would be the responsible way of handling it. Heck, there’s a chance Microsoft is whispering in their ear to make Creative Mode pay to download. Wouldn’t be surprised honestly.

I would like to let you know that while I been playing Minecraft on the Xbox 360 “I have came across some issues!” My issues are with the buckets with water in them, trying to put out lava or filling in water is not responding correctly,like it should for example I can’t fill up my buckets with lava. Because the lava will go away if i put it in a chest. My other problem is when I try to put lava out with water the water will disappear and lava will do the same thing to if I try to fill up my bucket. I hope so this message will help your team out with some issues in the game!

      pc version has public servers where you can play with lots of different people at once. Xbox 360 version is only good for multiplayer with friends for the time being. 360 version is being worked on, so you didn’t waste your money. They might still add more functioning for multiplayer.

    Not to sound ungrateful but every fix sounds amazing but i will no longer be playing minecraft any more due to the Fix for duplication bug with the furnace and dispenser. I have 4 Friends that I play with on X Box 360 we recently fell in love with the game an some of us can only play for a short time each night so the bug was very helpfull for those of us who just want to BE CREATIVE. Sorry if I sound ungrateful just is that I dont see this game being played any more since it will take way to long to build with my friends. Hope you and ur game the best of luck. But remember when helpfull glitches…..or codes are put into a Game Everyone doesnt have to use them…..its a choice you have!

    Hmm… game just came out not to long ago and has WAY MORE THAN THE PE VERSION. I know that you only pay 7-8$, somewhere around there. Still i think they should get some more attention around that field.     I was really looking forwards to having things more added to the game like the pistons. And I was very hopeful on a creative mode like the PC version because as anyone knows, minecraft is a booming game for beautiful and immense creations. Hell, I saw someone to the detail make the Death Star fly run with the whole detailed shaft and everything, and that is something you could not accomplish by going out and mining each and every material. I would have loved that the duplication glitch with the dispenser would have remained to allow us creative players that option of going in on peaceful, and just making neat things. My friends and I has been working on a medieval town and some art things with wool and now, our possibilities have just been severely cut. Hell, I made a to as close as possible to the pixel double sized creeper. The thing is something like 58 blocks high and 20 wide of different colored wools. After duplicating the items, it still took me 6hrs to put up, so I cannot fathom how much work it would have been to actually collect and make all the wools used.     i love how these patch notes on the Xbox version of Minecraft has turned into just a very long debate/argument about PC Vs. Xbox with the occasional mention of the PS3, I play on both consoles, and in my perspective the Xbox is much better than the PS3, I am looking into switching to PC because PC gaming is FAR superior to that of a console. and may i mention i have been a hardcore console gamer for over 3 years and before that a casual console gamer for 1 year. i completely agree that PC is the better system compared to ANY console that is on the market.

    Ok, so you can’t release all the updates you PROMISED would be included in this update… That’s forgiveable, but if you aren’t going to release Creative mode why would you remove the Duplication glitch??? It was the only thing that made the xbox version even close to Creative mode.

    Jesus Christ you guys lack intelligence don’t you! The pc is not made for gaming because it has no controllers and it’s too big and the loud nose makes someimtes makes people kill themselves!, even the computer guy said that! They are only used for emails, the ps3 is the best for game because it has a flexible graphics card that warps into a newer one every year! The ps3 was made to play games better then the pc that is a fact, the reason minecraft is not on the ps3 is because many pc and xbox players would complain due to the fact that they are jealou8s of the power that ps3 can muster! i feel sad for all the people spending 800+ on gaming pc’s becasue they coudl easy get a ps3 at it cheap price that outperforms all pc’s ever made to date!     Hey guys, thanks for the port. My 8 year old loves it and is impressing me with the houses he is learning to build. My 4-year old loves to make the green guys explode, and I love building all sorts of paths and trails leading to my various hideaways. Our favorite thing is to share the “Hey! did you know you can build a X if you have 4 Y’s and a Z?” and then we get to go do it and laugh together as a family. The only suggestion I have is nothing. Great game, great concept, and great job. Thanks for porting it to the XBox, else I would have never discovered it.

    First of all, notch still owns mojang and minecraft. jeb just is head of minecraft designs becuse notch wanted to do something else. If he wanted to retake control of minecraft he could in a second. And just get the pc version if you want better servers and more updates. It takes alot more effort to update xbox becuse of the overloading of the marketplace. Its not mojang, notches, or jebs fault.

    Okay. Considering I am a techie. Checked every conceivable setting. TV. Content. Gold Family. Also the plasma settings. The kids can’t play split screen anymore. Yes the HD is turned on. I am tired right now because have a four month old. Can anyone come up with why splitscreen Minecraft is not working or could this be an ingame glitch, and is anyone else experiencing this?         Must be due to the update. I am a tech support rep. I have trouble-shot the issue backward and forward. Every setting. I have a plasma. I have checked its settings. Changed from standard to dynamic. Logged in and accessed with my gamertag. and checked all settings for all gamertags. Checked difficulty ratings and more. It has to be in game. There is nothing I can tweek to make this work. It plain and simple stopped working after the update two days later. Tried to reset to default and readjust and still no improvement. I have seen updates mess up Internet explorer when customers have called to my cable/internet/phone company. can’t give company name. However, Reset of I.E. usually is a fix. The only thing I have not tried is to delete the game and reload the download. It may be a patch issue. Where the upgrade is flawed and they need to write a patch to fix some coding. I undertsand what coding is, however I do not know coding of C+++. The original minecraft is coded more on a Linus/Unix platform.especially the way it first looked when it came out. being the creator is out of Germany if I remember correctly. My experience with unix/linus is via using Teleneting to a game called Holy Mission. Of course this makes me much more in middleage range. I am a thirty-seven year old woman, and my teching skills are phenominal compared to a great many I know. I could stand to know more though:)

    These Updates were needed for the gameplay to feel a little smoother, though I heard that Microsoft charges $40,000 to the company for each patch or update they submit. So the Lot of you better be happy they were willing to release these fixes instead of making you wait till they have everything ready to be updated to what was 1.8.1 beta – 1.2.5 official release which could take a long time to get the coding right, while also making a new control scheme for the added sprint feature. 4J and Microsoft studios has a lot to work on…

    4J Studios started porting the java code into C++ (Console code) in early beta of minecraft. they ported and converted millions of lines of code,it took some time. Now they finished the code they are way out of date of PC 1.2.5 whereas when they started porting it was around 1.6.6 it will take awhile changing maybe another million or two lines of code. Jeb and Notch or anyone at mojang have no interest into developing Xbox edition, they probably don’t even know much C++. Mojang will stick to PC gaming and use the money they earned from “royalties” too boost there development and get new offices and stuff, same thing goes for MineCraft Pocket Edition

    You know what they really should do? Minecraft for 3DS. Think about it. It could use the gyroscope to move the crosshairs, and instead of having a hotbar, your whole inventory would be selectable on the bottom screen. That would be EPIC!

    I didn’t play Minecraft until the Xbox version, and I’d like to say thank you to the developers for the patches and upgrades. I’m now about to download Minecraft for my PC, so releasing it on the Xbox was a good marketing move as well as being pretty inclusive of console gamers.
