Chicken chaser found himself rather dashing.in his new wardrobe. He had earned the money from helping a villager find out his wife was not faithful. Deciding that today was a great day for adventure he set out wielding his trusty blade. Stopping at every reflecting pool to look at his rather dashing self, he was only interrupted once. A young lady with sprawling red hair had spotted him and approached him. “My stars! Aren’t you adorable!” She exclaimed. Chicken chase was quite shocked. “Adorable? As in a teddy bear or a doll ? Are you blind my lady? I am heroic and dashing!” He declared. The lady laughed and spoke. “Join me on my journey through Albion and then I will see.”
They set off together to find fellow adventurers!
It looked dead, but I began to back away just in case”. Gabriel opened his eyes again and turned to the crowd that had formed around him to hear about his newest exciting adventure. “The darkness made it hard to see if the body was still moving or that the monster was slain. I was nervous to approach the seemingly lifeless victim, but I couldn’t take a chance that this monster could escape and attack one of my fellow citizens. A hero has to be brave and face dangers that others would only run away from!” Gabriel swung his sword over his head to mimic the moves he had made to defeat the beast.
“What did the monster look like?” a boy asked.
Gabriel spread his arms wide to show him. “It was big and black and enormous! It had huge hairy legs and big fangs that can eat a man alive!”
Up until now Ben Finn had been quietly listening at the back of the crowd: “Wait a minute Gabriel, are you talking about that little spider that I had to catch for you yesterday because you were too scared and were screaming like a little girl?”
Reaver on Reaver: Mask of the Witch
I have been with many people throughout my long life, but one name draws a hint of anguish from my breast – Cerene. She was my true love, if that is even possible to one such as I. We shared a love of adventuring, thieving and, yes, even killing. We were young.
It was a chance encounter with a maiden that was to be our undoing. She carried a small satchel that caught Cerene’s eye; a glint of something shiny peeked through. Cerene was determined to see this treasure.
It was with little difficulty that I distracted the maiden – some trivial trick – while Cerene liberated the item. The treasure was a jewel encrusted mask. I couldn’t help but wonder why the maiden had the mask.
Cerene became obsessed. I wanted sell the gems and the gold, but Cerene wanted the mask for herself. She put the mask on and a terrible transformation occurred. She was no-longer my love, but some horrible sorceress. My Cerene was gone.
I found later that the maiden was pure, incorruptible – transporting the mask for disposal.
But what of the Witch that was Cerene? A tale for another time, perhaps.
A Fable Heroes Haiku:
“Let’s go adventure!”
The king said raising his sword.
“Who will come with me?”
“I will,”said the girl.
With red hair and rosey cheeks.
Her hammer ready.
“I will,” said the mage.
With one eye, they call him Garth.
He floated over.
“I will,” said the rogue.
With pistols cocked and ready.
They call him Reaver.
The party set out.
Throughout Albion they went.
Having so much fun.
Grabbing chickens, riding carts.
Nothing could stop them.
Journeyed far and wide.
Fighting some trolls, grabbing coins.
Day and night they went.
“What an adventure!”
The king yelled to his party.
“Glad my friends are here!”
